Un bien triste jour

C'est un bien triste jour. It's such a sad day. Watching Bush taking his oath, surrounded by so many policemen. The sky was gray. Some people were shouting at the so-called "new president" in protest. It couldn't possibly have been more dark and gloomy. It was like watching a dictator taking power in a remote thirld world country, when the population is too stunned to react and it's like you can see in the eyes of the dictator himself the pale reflection of his people's suffering. Except that the country is the United States and that the dictator has just been reelected. That's an odd feeling. It's like knowing that something terribly, terribly wrong is going to happen, is already happening, and you can't do anything in the world to stop it. I think about the american Democrats. I think about people in Iran, who will learn soon enough what "liberty" stands for, in contemporary american language.

I think about people in Iran, who will learn soon enough what "liberty" stands for, in contemporary american language. you'd better think about the frenchies, who have learned nothing what "liberty" stands for, once Paris was liberated by the Allied forces led by Americans...(and not by that big-nose general, as your museums and books teach you....)
also think about the fact that you're speaking french today and russian, but that's too much to ask from a frogie...

Boy a rough comment above this one.
You know I feel the same way you do, we have just seen the coronation of our new Emperor who wants to be the emperor of the world and many in this country considered it a day of mourning. It is so hard to watch a freight train out of control and you can do nothing to stop it.
I have been writing madly to congress, etc. about all the issues we are facing, but fear it does little good. We were very proud of some of our women such as Barbara Boxer who really trounced Condi Rice at the hearings. We don't seem to have the men doing this except for Kerry of course. We (Dems)are concentrating on supporting the dems that stand up. Boxer had a petition of 40,000 citizens prior to the Condi Rice Hearing. Kerry has one going to fire Rumsfeld. They are catching on that us interenet people can have some say.
I have to say though we have a very difficult job ahead of us.
My daughter and I are pretty convinced this is Revelations playing out. He fits all the criteria, doesn't he. Maybe we cannot control this and it is just going to go till all is gone.
But I haven't given up hope yet. Not yet.
I only have a few years left, but I am working hard on behalf of my children and grandchildren.
I wish the rest of the world would say some serious prayers for this country to throw off this oppression, right here at home.

Hope all is well with you.

It would not take war to over throw Iran's Mullahs.

First, we should cease our dealings with the mullahs.

Second, we should give financial and political assistance to dissidents inside the country.

Third, we should back the main resistance group, the People's Mujahidin, which was treated as a terrorist organisation in order to appease Khamenei.

As their exiled pretender, the Shah's heir Reza Pahlavi, reminds us, Iranians are not asking for our soldiers, merely for our active sympathy.

Give them the tools, and they will finish the job.

Hi! Nice blog. I just had a question about the title of this post. I am taking French in my High School and enjoying it beaucoup. But, I thought that adjectives only came before the noun if they described beauty, age, goodness, or size. If I'm not mistaken, "triste" means "sad" which would come after the noun, right? I'm just curious, and eager to talk to a native french speaker.

Please read the following Announcement in its Entirety and Consider the Possibilities
Watch this One to Trade!

IFLH announces Senator David Cain has joined its Board of Directors!!

IFLH volume trading is beginning to surge with landslide Announcement. The value of this
stock appears poised for growth! This one should not remain on the ground floor for long.

BREAKING NEWS!!
InterFinancial Holdings, Corp. (OTC Pink Sheets: IFLH - News) announced that they have added
David Cain to their board of directors. David Cain is currently the Chairman of the advisory
board to TTI (Texas Transportation Institute). Senator Cain represented Senate District 2 for
eight years in the Texas Senate and Chaired the Senate State Affairs Subcommittee on
Transportation and served nine terms in the Texas House of Representatives for District 107.

During his twelve years as Chairman of the House Committee on Transportation, Senator Cains
efforts on behalf of the people of Texas have been widely recognized. He was named to Texas
Monthly Magazines list of Ten Best Legislators, the Dallas Morning News said he was one of
the outstanding legislators of the 73rd session, and the Texas Department of Transportation
awarded him the Russell H. Perry Award in 1995 for his efforts to gain public awareness of
the need for and benefits of transportation facilities in the State of Texas.

Jeffrey C. Bruteyn, Managing Director, stated, We at InterFinancial are proud to have such a
widely recognized Senator join our board and oversee out automotive lending division. His
affiliations and connections to the automotive industry will be invaluable to our company.
Senator Cain will be instrumental in expediting our approval to use a government issued Seller
Finance License.

Seller Finance Licenses are very difficult to obtain and are usually reserved for the Big Boys
with heavy lobbyists. These licenses are highly coveted because it allows the finance company
to collect the entire down payment, instead of paying a portion of it to the taxing authority.
This dramatically helps a finance companys bottom line if the buyer defaults on the loan.

With the new GPS tracking systems being installed on every car to dramatically improve
repossessions and with Senator Cain on the Board of Directors, InterFinancial Holdings
is ready to take their business to the next level.

Conclusion:

The examples above show the Awesome, Earning Potential of little known Companies
That Explode onto Investors Radar Screens. This stock will not be a Secret for long.
Then You May Feel the Desire to Act Right Now! And Please Watch This One Trade!!

I really enjoy reading your blog, it always has great insight. But I am very frustrated with the media’s lack of questions to the presidential candidates about global warming.

The Daily Green just put an article out talking about how the presidential candidates are not being asked where they stand on the issue of the climate change - this is surprising to me considering its such a MAJOR concern to people. I just saw a poll on www.EarthLab.com that says people care a lot what their next leader thinks about global warming (after you take it they show you the results). Does anyone know of another poll or other results about this subject?

If not, go to http://www.earthlab.com/life.aspx and take their poll to see which way the results go. This is a pretty legit website; they are endorsed by Al Gore and the alliance for climate protection and they have a carbon footprint calculator. No matter which political party you vote for this is an important issue for our environment, our economy and for homeland security.

Love him? Hate him? How do YOU feel about our soon to be former President? Take part in a chance to immortalize your views in book form by visiting http://goodbyegeorgew.com/ and letting your opinion be read!

Check out the following article about http://goodbyegeorgew.com/:
Cyber Send Off for Bush Sparks Hope for Movement for Democratic Voice in USA

When I entered the http://www.goodbyegeorgew.com website I was struck by the comic depiction of George W. assumedly on his way back to Texas, “gettin’ outta Dodge.” I read the sample letters to Bush, which I heartily agreed with, sticking it to him but good and then I clicked over to the virtual store. While politically collectible and good for holiday gifting, there were only a few things, and reasonably priced. Nobody was out to make a killing here.

“What is it that motivated this website?” - I wondered out loud to my two kittens rolled up beside me as I sat propped against the bed board with my laptop in front of me.

I suppose I’ve become the product of the same system I have worked against for so many years as an activist and avowed socialist at that, expecting everything to be based in the profit motive.

And why shouldn’t I expect that? After all we just had eight years of a White House run almost exclusively for profit. And I don’t mean only for the profit of the big banks that run the economy. Bush and Cheney went over the top, enriching the very companies in which the cabal of cronies running the government had major shares and no one has cared enough to stop them. They did it in Iraq. They did it through sewing fear at home with the notion of the homeland security state. They even did it with Hurricane Katrina. Government has been downsized, even the Pentagon. The role of governing has been privatized with no-bid sub-contractors profiting the same guys running the country! Once again, so much for the oath to uphold the Constitution and safeguard the public trust.

So then, in today’s world, as perverse as it has become, why should http://www.goodbyegeorgew.com not be selling me something? I made contact with the people running the site and found the unexpected.

The Georgia-native, Kate Wheeler and her daughter Ashley had had enough of being walked on by politicians and they figured that a lot of other people felt the same. Lifted by the recent rout of Republicans from the White House and Capitol Hill they were motivated to act.

“People need the chance to say what’s on their minds after putting up with what we have all gone through in this country. Bush stole the first election and the Democrats and the mainstream media let him. Things only went downhill from there,” Wheeler asserted.

“With our website we are letting people tell George W. what they really think about him and it’s about time. So far the response has been terrific but we want the message to be really loud, not just so that Bush hears it. We want all of Washington, Republicans and Democrats alike to know that the American People are expecting real change in this country. The George W. Goodbye Movement is going to grow into a movement making sure that that change takes place,” Wheeler said.

It was a nice surprise from the creator of http://www.goodbyegeorgew.com. Wheeler encourages everyone, even Bush supporters, to click on and write their fond farewells. Later the letters will be immortalized in a book, documenting public opinion of the George W. Bush presidency. More than anything this website looks to move people to act and participate in holding those that govern accountable for what they do. I know I’ll be clicking in and writing my letter over the weekend.
